Basic Mechanical Skills sessions introduce adults with unique abilities to simple tools and concepts in a calm, supportive environment. Using items like screwdrivers, wrenches, and pumps, we practice safe handling, naming each tool, and understanding what it does.
Activities might include tightening bolts, inflating tires, or exploring how basic parts fit together. We move slowly, with clear visual examples, repetition, and close staff supervision so participants can succeed without feeling rushed.
These experiences build hand strength, problem-solving, and confidence around equipment they may encounter in a bike shop, on a farm, or at home. For some, it can also open the door to future vocational opportunities or meaningful volunteer work involving simple repairs or maintenance tasks.
